My favorite hotel at the Disneyland Resort is the Grand Californian. Whether or not you stay there, it’s a fun place to unwind, grab a drink, or just sit by the giant hearth and listen to live piano music. The lobby is extra magical during the holidays, thanks to a massive tree and garlands strung on all the floors.
But the best part of the Grand Californian’s holiday decor is the massive Grand Californian Gingerbread House. This real candy building stands at almost 8 feet tall, and perfectly resembles the hotel.
According to Disney, here’s what it takes to make the gingerbread hotel:
- 600 lbs. of gingerbread
- 600 lbs. of powdered sugar
- 12 gallons of egg whites
- 3.5 gallons of lemon juice
- 150 lbs. of fondant
- 1 lb. of Pixie Dust
As an added bonus, there are a bunch of Hidden Mickeys embedded in the gingerbread house and its landscaping. It makes for a fun challenge as you sip hot cocoa!
