EXPERIENCE

Details:

  • Service Type – Table service
  • Seating – Indoor dining room & outdoor patio
  • Entertainment – None

The Creole Café reenergized the western side of the Rivers of America. After the closure of the Chicken Plantation Restaurant, fans wondered if another restaurant would once again liven up the far side of the waterfront. Sure enough, the Creole Café became a lively spot to dine, people-watch, and take in the view of Tom Sawyer Island.

CLOSURE

Calling this a closure seems a little unfair; it really became a re-theming more than anything else. The restaurant maintained its atmosphere and Creole menu, but gained a sponsor: Sara Lee. With the new sponsorship came a new name, Café Orleans.

TRIVIA

The Creole Café shared a kitchen with the Blue Bayou.

In the 1960s, the Creole Café introduced what is now a famous Disneyland treat: the Monte Cristo sandwich.
