Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost Source: Character Central

March 1995 – June 2017

LOCATION

Adventureland – The outpost faced the exit to the Indiana Jones Attraction, on the western side of Adventureland. To find the shop, visitors wandered over to the main attraction, then did an about face. The shop also stood next to the Bengal Barbecue, so it was hard to miss.

EXPERIENCE

Details:

  • Merchandise – Indiana Jones hats, accessories, and toys; general Disney toys and accessories
  • Unique Features – Indiana’s trunks and belongings stored along the ceiling

In the 90s, Indiana Jones transformed Adventureland. A quieter land suddenly had a major, exciting attraction, and guests couldn’t get enough of racing through the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. After riding, guests didn’t have to leave Indy behind – they could walk just a few feet and explore the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost. This shop sold Indiana Jones souvenirs mixed in with regular Disneyland merchandise, all just steps from the new ride.

CLOSURE

As Adventureland grew over the years, traffic became a huge problem. Strollers, packs of visitors looking at maps and wait time apps, and just generally narrow walkways made it really hard to travel through the jungle. In 2017, Disneyland finally took steps to alleviate this problem. Several shops closed to make room for new stroller parking, seating areas, and usable space outside of the direct walkway. The changes improved Adventureland crowd flow dramatically, but the Outpost ended up being one of the casualties of this change.

TRIVIA

This shop replaced the Safari Outpost, which sold safari accessories and khaki clothing.

Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Paris both still have an Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost shop.

Adventureland still sells Indiana Jones merchandise; it just moved over to the Adventureland Bazaar.

    • Hi Leozildo! I don’t work for Disney, so I can’t help you order something from this shop. But if you contact the Disneyland Resort’s merchandise #, they may be able to help you: (877) 560-6477.

  1. I’m totally happy with the change of Adventureland. As you mentioned, congestion was a HUGE problem in Adventureland, along with VERY limited seating for Bengal Barbecue. The Bazaar had lots of room to accommodate Indy merch, especially since at some point it was even selling Pirate merch!

    • We are totally on the same page. It’s amazing how much of a difference the stroller shuffle made!!!
