San Andreas Shakes Source: Tangaroa Joel

February 2001 – September 2010

LOCATION

Golden State – San Andreas Shakes was a popular stop inside Golden State’s Bountiful Valley Farm area. This stand bumped up against Pacific Wharf, and was basically next-door to the Boudin Bakery Tour. Today, this space is a walkway with trees and other greenery between Cars Land and Pacific Wharf.

EXPERIENCE

Details:

  • Service Type – quick service
  • Seating – none
  • Entertainment – none

When the sun is beating down on a hot California afternoon, there’s nothing better than a shake. San Andreas Shakes in Bountiful Valley Farm offered an appetizing menu of cold treats, most with punny names like “seismic ice cream” and the fan favorite “shaker o’ mud”.

CLOSURE

Sadly, San Andreas Shakes’ downfall was due entirely to its location. When California Adventure announced its major expansion and refurbishment project, Bountiful Valley Farm was on the chopping block. This land would be removed to make space for both A Bug’s Land and part of Cars Land, which would open as new lands in the next few years.

TRIVIA

This stand had an official slogan: “delicious to a fault!”
