LOCATION
Bear Country – Ursus H. Bear’s Wilderness Outpost stood at the “end” of Bear Country, making it a true outpost in western Disneyland. Today, this shop is home to Lous’ Critter Club, within the land of Bayou Country.
EXPERIENCE
Details:
- Merchandise โ country-themed souvenirs, miscellaneous apparel, and accessories
- Unique Features โ Marquee featuring a portrait of Ursus H. Bear
Sharing a building with the Brer Bar and Teddi Barra’s Swingin’ Arcade, Ursus H. Bear’s Wilderness Outpost served as the most popular shopping destination in Bear Country. Here, guests could purchase souvenirs between Country Bear Jamboree showings or canoe rides, before making their way back to New Orleans Square and the other lands on the western side of the park.
CLOSURE
In 1988, Bear Country rebranded into Critter Country to mark the opening of Splash Mountain. As a result, the shop also rebranded to fit the theming of the new headliner attraction. The shop transformed into the Crocodile Mercantile, still retaining its country-themed souvenirs.
TRIVIA
The shop’s namesake, Ursus H. Bear, founded Grizzly Hall (the home of the Country Bear Jamboree).
In addition to its current form, this shop has also been branded as the Crocodile Mercantile and Pooh Corner.
