Can you believe it’s September?! Every summer goes by fast, but this one just seemed especially fast to me. Disneyland sure didn’t waste any time getting into the fall mood – the Mickey pumpkin and fall colors are back in action on Main Street, with Halloween parties kicking off in the next few weeks. Let’s take a look back at August at the resort.

CONSTRUCTION WALLS EVERYWHERE

It’s not refurbishment season, but you wouldn’t know it from the walls all across the resort. In Disneyland, Toontown remains behind walls for its major overhaul. And over in Galaxy’s Edge, new walls went up to start work on a new offering: Batuu Bounty Hunters.

This game, which debuted in the Walt Disney World Galaxy’s Edge in July, can be played through the Play Disney Parks app. Players search for virtual bounties throughout the land, earning virtual galactic credits along the way. Disneyland has yet to announce a debut date for its version of the game, so keep your eyes on the Disney Parks Blog, as I imagine that update will be coming soon.

Over in Adventureland, construction continues at the former Tarzan’s Treehouse.

This project remains shrouded in mystery. Will it return to the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse? Will it become an Encanto attraction? Disneyland also has yet to announce the new theme – but those are the two most popular theories I’ve seen from fans speculating on social media. Personally, I liked the Tarzan theme a lot. It was the movie’s only representation at the resort.

Across the promenade in Hollywood Land, walls are up around Monsters Inc.

Monsters Inc.’s refurbishment is scheduled to be completed today, September 2. And finally, on the other side of the resort, the Disneyland Hotel‘s new tower is starting to take shape.

This Disney Vacation Club (DVC) tower has a tentative opening date of “2023”, but these types of construction projects often end up opening a lot later than initially announced. I’ll share an update as soon as we have one.

HALLOWEEN FOODIE GUIDE

I don’t know about you, but my favorite part of Halloween time at the Disneyland Resort is the food. Snacks, desserts, drinks, and even meals in some restaurants take on full Halloween themes, with creative designs and just the best flavors.

Each year for the last few years, Disneyland has released a “foodie guide”, highlighting all the upcoming treats for that season. We finally have this year’s Halloween foodie guide.

Personally, I’m most tempted by the chocolate espresso bread pudding and the pork belly sliders!

OTHER UPDATES

Magic Keys are finally open for renewals. For a detailed breakdown of pricing, key tiers, and timelines, check out the Magic Key homepage here.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has officially reopened as of this month, and is accepting reservations through both Disneyland’s website and the app.

And finally, Disneyland has a wonderful new feature on its official app. Did a cast member help make some magic during your trip? You can send a cast compliment directly to both the cast member and their manager – all you have to do is list their name, hometown, and the date/time. And if you didn’t catch that cast member’s name, you can leave a compliment for the particular area’s cast members in general and still spread the love. I highly encourage you all to use this feature. Being a cast member is often a thankless job, and taking a moment to show appreciation is never a bad use of time.

  1. Ride and Experience closures seemed to be on predictable and plannable schedules during the 10 or 15 years prior to the COVID-19 Disneyland Parks closures… everything is different now and not by a little bit, things are A LOT different now. I am grateful Disneyland is open again and Walt’s original Magic Kingdom “inside the berm” has been so well maintained and preserved for these past 67 years, but I also can not help to pause and reflect and acknowledge that Disneyland was much better when Trump was president, looking back now I think everything was better when Trump was President. My deepest and most sincere hope is that even with all the closures, changes, and updates that Disneyland will remain the “Happiest Place On Earth” for another 67 years. I might not be around to see it but just imagine Disneyland at 100 years old!!!
