2019 is shaping up to be a huge year for the Disneyland Resort. Between the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a huge festival and event lineup, and lots of Downtown Disney refurbishments finishing, this year will bring the resort some fresh new energy. Let’s recap month 1 of this busy year.
PROJECT STARDUST
As I mentioned in this post, Disneyland has been working hard to get the park in the best possible shape ahead of the anticipated Star Wars Land crowds. Disney confirmed many of the recent refurbishment and enhancement projects in the park are part of “Project Stardust”, which will be completed in late spring 2019.
This project includes queue re-configuring, walkway widening, seating reorganization, and a major refurbishment for Sleeping Beauty Castle. For the time being, the castle hides behind some scaffolding – though some of the walls do have beautiful scenes from the film, which turned 60 this month.
POTION PURPLE
First we had rose gold, then millennial pink…now Disneyland has moved onto the latest color craze: Potion Purple.
You can buy potion purple ears, spirit jerseys, backpacks…even churros!
MINNIE’S VALENTINE’S DAY SURPRISE
Love is in the air at the Disneyland Resort. Now through February 18, park visitors can join Minnie in a Valentine’s Day scavenger hunt across the park.
To play, you’ll need to purchase the game board from any of the following locations ($6.99):
- Bonanza Outfitters
- The Briar Patch
- Disney Showcase
- Disneyana
- Disneyland Emporium
- Little Green Men Store Command
- Pieces of Eight
Once you complete the puzzles on your board, turn it in at Disney Showcase for a special surprise! For more information about the game, check out the official page here.
OTHER UPDATES
California Adventure’s Lunar New Year celebration officially kicked off this week. For more information about event offerings and entertainment, check out this post.
Don’t be surprised if the next time you wander into Cars Land, you don’t see the street party truck. This month, DJ’s Dance ‘n’ Drive street show parked for good. (I can’t say I’m bummed about this one – it caused a huge traffic jam & wasn’t terribly popular)
And finally, the highly anticipated Ballast Point Brewery opened this month! Ballast Point is a San Diego based brewing company, and now joins the lineup of Downtown Disney bars and restaurants.
