Happy (official) summer! This might be my favorite time of year – the days are so long, everyone’s excited about summer coming, and the company I work for has a week long shutdown just after the fourth of July. To be honest, it is NOT my favorite time of year to visit Disneyland though – because it is hot and absolutely packed. Let’s take a look back at June at the happiest place on earth.
TWO NEW CHARACTERS AND THE RETURN OF A FAVORITE
Both parks continued the trend of adding new characters to their respective lineups. Over in California Adventure, Ms. Marvel herself is now meeting guests in the central park of Avengers Campus.

Over in Tomorrowland, Buzz Lightyear is now meeting guests too. This is not the toy you’ve probably seen in the park before, but the human version from the new Lightyear movie.

In the former Launch Bay building, a fan favorite has returned. For a limited time (how limited is unclear), Darth Vader will be hosting his own meet and greet to promote Obi-Wan on Disney+.

THE SUBMARINE VOYAGE FINALLY RETURNS
Even more fun over in Tomorrowland! After more than two years of closure, the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage will finally return July 25. The attraction has been updated to include characters from Finding Dory, including fan favorite Hank the octopus.

SUMMER FUN AT THE HOTELS

The special summer offerings extend beyond the parks. From July 1 through August 31, all three resort hotels will host pool parties with specialty entertainment:
- Water sponge relays
- Floaty toss competitions
- Dance parties
- Surprise character appearances
For more information about the pool parties, check out the announcement page here.
OTHER UPDATES
If you’re craving barbecue this summer, Paradise Garden Grill has a new menu. Now through August 31, the quick service spot will have a special barbecue menu to draw in summer visitors.
The Paradise Pier Hotel park entrance is now open! Guests staying in the hotel can now access California Adventure directly, with an entrance leading into Paradise Gardens Park.
And finally, Spider-Man had a bit of a fail this month. As you can see in the video below, the animatronic’s flipping above WEB went a little askew. Not sure what happened here, but the issue appears to have been fixed.
