As September fades into October, Disneyland has once again transformed into a Halloween wonderland. Pumpkins, bats, and cobwebs cover both parks, and even Downtown Disney displays autumn floral arrangements and décor.
Let’s take a look at all the September happenings at the Disneyland Resort.
THE BUGS GET EXTERMINATED
On September 4, A Bug’s Land finally said it’s last “bye.”
The land closed to make room for a new Marvel Land, slated to open in 2020. For now, guests have a new view: a Stark Industries construction wall.
No word yet on the land’s official name or any attractions, but I suspect we’ll hear more during the 2019 D23 convention.
HALLOWEEN TIME BEGINS
The biggest shift this month at the resort: Halloween! Once again, the Haunted Mansion welcomed its annual seasonal guest: Jack Skellington.
Over in Frontierland, guests can explore an ornate Dia de los Muertos celebration.
Paradise Gardens Park also has a Dia de los Muertos party, with Miguel and his family from Coco hosting!
Over on Buena Vista Street, the bats, headless horseman, and purple lights are back for the second year in a row.
And Cars Land’s overlays also return for the second time.
And finally, Main Street USA once again displays the magnificent Mickey pumpkin.
OTHER UPDATES
This month, Disneyland expanded the wildly popular mobile ordering function available on the Disneyland app. The new locations participating are as follows:
- Edelweiss Snacks
- Harbour Galley
- Refreshment Corner
- Royal Street Veranda
- Stage Door Café
- Tiki Juice Bar
Remember last month I mentioned the Buzz Lightyear exterior mural changed to black? Well, it’s back now and looks exactly the same. Guess it just needed a refresh!
Bad news for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit fans. He is no longer available for meet & greets in California Adventure. Why? Disneyland obviously didn’t announce it or give an official reason, so the speculation is this is the result of budget cuts as the resort finishes preparations for Star Wars Land.
This fall (no official date yet), the Star Wars: VOID virtual reality experience in Downtown Disney will transform into a Wreck it Ralph virtual reality attraction. To read the full (although vague) announcement, check out Disney Parks Blog’s post here.
This just in – the Earl of Sandwich will return October 1st. The restaurant originally closed to make room for the new 4th hotel, but with that project scrapped, our Earl has been spared.
And finally, I wanted to share a crazy (if not creepy?) video that went viral this month. A super Disney enthusiast constructed his own Fantasyland replica in his basement. The model includes the facades for Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride, Peter Pan’s Flight, Snow White’s Scary Adventures, and the Red Rose Taverne. Check out the video below for a tour of this amazingly detailed space.
