October is here…and so is Halloween madness at the Disneyland Resort. Last month ushered in the start of the spooky season at the happiest place on earth, and both parks now glow with some magical orange accents. Let’s take a look back at September at Disneyland.
HALLOWEENTIME BEGINS
September 6 marked the official start of Halloween time at the resort, and both parks transformed into their autumn looks. Over in Disneyland, Main Street’s Mickey pumpkin now stands tall in the plaza, and Jack Skellington has taken over the Haunted Mansion.

He may be from Halloween Town, but Jack has another holiday on his mind.

And over in California Adventure, the Oogie Boogie Bash Halloween parties have officially begun. This year marks the first time in a long time that Disneyland is not the park hosting the after-hours party, and California Adventure pulled out all the stops to keep guests excited. The Bash’s parade features rarely seen characters, including Cheshire Cat.

Visitors also have the chance to meet rare parks characters – like Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable!

And of course, don’t forget to visit the Headless Horseman on Buena Vista Street.

TOMORROWLAND BEHIND WALLS
As I mentioned last month, Tomorrowland‘s entrance is currently going through a big transformation. Most of the jagged rocks at the front are now gone, with construction walls hiding the removal process.

But the front entrance isn’t the only section of Tomorrowland walled up; the Path of the Jedi theater is having some exterior work done (the show remains open).

ENTERTAINMENT SHAKEUP
Live entertainment fans had two huge disappointments this month. First, the Pixarmonic Orchestra in Pixar Pier concluded its run, ending live performances in the land. And second, Laughing Stock Co. held its final show in the Golden Horseshoe. Many of the Disney Parks worldwide have announced entertainment cuts, and fans (myself included) feel incredibly disappointed at this trend.
However, all hope is not lost at Disneyland! The Golden Horseshoe’s new act will feature dueling piano players, who will play western songs and even take requests from the audience. And outside the theater, a strolling magician will roam Frontierland in search of crowds to amaze.
OTHER UPDATES
Look out for new dining in Downtown Disney! This winter, A new counter-service spot called Asian Street Eats will open nearby the Earl of Sandwich. The menu will include mixed rice bowls, potstickers, Japanese drinks, scallion pancake wraps, and mochi.
Also coming to the resort: a new spa. The Grand Californian will launch Tenaya Stone Spa in 2020. The spa will offer facials, massages, and salon services, with an interior designed by imagineers to reflect the existing craftsman style of the hotel.
And finally, here’s a closer look at Oogie Boogie. We’ve seen him in the Haunted Mansion, but this year, he’s visiting both parks!
