October is here, which means Disneyland’s halloween season is in full swing! Between new villains at Oogie Boogie Bash and all the tasty treats popping up across the resort, visitors have tons to explore this year. Warning: if you DON’T want Oogie Boogie Bash spoilers ahead of your party, you may not want to read further.
Otherwise, let’s dive in.
GREETINGS, FOOLISH MORTALS
Halloween is one of the most festive times of year to visit Disneyland. Villains and other lesser-seen characters come out in droves, and not just during the after-hours parties. But with restrictions around meet and greets this year, some were wondering if we’d still see the Halloween gang. Well, fear not – they’re here and ready to meet you – just from a distance. Here are Jack and Sally meeting guests from the Haunted Mansion balcony.

And over in California Adventure, villains have made their home on special treat trails throughout the park. If you visit the Bash, you’ll see fan favorites like Maleficent and the Mad Hatter. But you’ll also see three new faces!
First up, Sid from Toy Story, over in Pixar Pier.

Next, you’ll spot young Cruella in Hollywood Land.

And finally, the villain I’m most excited to see: Agatha Harkness (in Avenger’s Campus, of course).

THE WEST COAST GETS A HOLIDAY PARTY
Walt Disney World has hosted a holiday party for years, and this year, west coast Disney fans finally get their own party: Merriest Nites. Like Oogie Boogie Bash, this event will be after-hours and require a separate ticket, and include exclusive activities, merchandise, and treats.

OTHER UPDATES
Park visitors in September noticed some of the Fantasmic! equipment peeking out from the Rivers of America. Could this be a sign that the show is on its way back?
Similarly, Paradise Bay appears to be partially drained, exposing World of Color equipment. I heard from a cast member that the equipment had some damage after being neglected for a year, and Imagineers are starting repairs. No word on a timeline for when the show is expected to return.
And finally, I’ll leave you with a Magic Key exclusive offering you’ll find at Oogie Boogie Bash. Do you recognize the photo op? It’s the spell book from Hocus Pocus!
