Even though we just transitioned into the Halloween season at Disneyland, the holidays are just around the corner! If you’re planning a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth between November 8 and January 6, you’re in for a magical treat. Welcome to the Merriest Place on Earth…Disneyland’s holiday transformation.
WINTER WHITES & BOUGHS OF HOLLY
In both parks, you’ll find tons of shiny holiday décor. In Disneyland, Main Street USA, Mickey’s Toontown, Frontierland, New Orleans Square, and Critter Country are the places to see the lights, wreaths, and other festive decorations. And over in California Adventure, you’ll find holiday spirit along Buena Vista Street, Grizzly Peak, Cars Land, and Paradise Gardens Park.

Both parks feature a massive tree in their front lands (Main Street and Buena Vista Street). What I love most is that the décor changes by land to fit its theme; you’ll see rustic and very green garlands in Grizzly Peak and Critter Country, while Toontown’s wreaths are overloaded with shiny and colorful tinsel. If you’re interested in learning more about the resort’s holiday decorating, you can sign up for a special guided tour.

ATTRACTION OVERLAYS
Across the resort, four attractions transform with special holiday overlays:
- Haunted Mansion Holiday – This one carries over from Halloween. Jack Skellington & his friends have taken over the mansion, storing presents and prepping for Sandy Claws’ frightfully fun Christmas Eve journey.
- It’s A Small World Holiday – The whole world has reason to celebrate this holiday season. Take a cruise through a global celebration and enjoy the attraction’s beautiful holiday lighting and décor on the façade.
- Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl – Bon Natale! Cars Land’s resident Italian celebrates Christmas in style. Join Luigi for special dances, to some of his favorite car-sung covers of holiday classics.
- Mater’s Jingle Jamboree – Mater agrees; it’s the most wonderful time of the year. Enjoy his festive soundtrack and a few worn decorations in his junkyard.
Note: unlike previous years, the Jungle Cruise and World of Color overlays are not listed as part of this year’s lineup.

ENTERTAINMENT
In California Adventure, Paradise Gardens Park will once again host the Festival of the Holidays (full post on that celebration coming soon). At the festival, you’ll be able to dine at specialty food carts, meet Princess Elena of Avalor, and enjoy live dancing and music.

And over in Disneyland, two special entertainment offerings will round out the celebration: the Christmas Fantasy parade and Believe…In Holiday Magic fireworks. Both shows continue Disneyland’s usual inclusion of characters and Disney music, but have a special element of holiday celebration. The parade even features Santa!
