Trips to the Happiest Place on Earth get expensive…especially when you’re factoring in food. Many families opt to bring in their own food, which can be a huge money saver. But if lugging around your food all day sounds less than appealing, fear not – Disneyland has its own picnic and rest area between the park gates.

The Picnic Area sits beneath the Monorail tracks, protected on all sides by shrubs. If you’re bringing food to the resort, you can store it in the lockers outside the park gates, or in lockers inside the Picnic Area itself. You’ll see signs by the lockers pointing to the Picnic Area. It’s between the gates to Disneyland and the walkway to Downtown Disney, near the tram stop.

The actual space has tons of tables, most of which are shady and quiet. Even if you don’t bring food to the resort, the Picnic Area is a great place to rest, regroup, or just take a breather from the crowds.

  1. I’ve never noticed the picnic areas. Do they tend to be crowded? Although I certainly love Disneyland, sometime on our visits I feel a little overwhelmed by all the people and activity and am always looked for a little hideaway of relative tranquillity.

    • In my experience, the Picnic Area is never terribly crowded, because most people don’t know it’s there!
