Welcome to Ask The Duchess – Vol. 111, a monthly Q&A post covering a variety of resort-related topics. Ask The Duchess answers questions submitted by readers. If you have a question you’d like answered, send me a message here.
1. Can I bring food in through security? (submitted by Colleen)
Yes! When you go through bag check, they will look through your items, so make sure your food is easily accessible. You can’t bring in any glass, so just be mindful of the containers you use.
2. Why doesn’t the Monorail stop in California Adventure? (submitted by Chad WDW)
I have no idea! I think it should, but Disney never asked my opinion 🙂
3. We’re thinking of doing a day trip from Napa to Disneyland. Is traffic bad? (submitted by Eleanor)
I would absolutely not recommend this – the drive between Napa and Anaheim is probably 8 hours with zero traffic in a perfect scenario. It’s doable as a day trip if you fly from NorCal into John Wayne Airport, but in my opinion that doesn’t work if you’re driving.
4. Is it true that the purple teacup spins faster than the others? (submitted by Riyah)
Sadly, no. This one has been very confidently de-bunked. All of the teacups spin at the same speed.
5. Have you always lived close to Disneyland? Is that why you got into it? (submitted by Clara)
That’s not at ALL why I got into it! I’ve lived as close as a 90 minute drive and as far as a 6 hour flight. And no matter where I’ve lived, my love for Disneyland hasn’t changed. I first visited Disneyland as a kid, and then went back in high school. The high school trip made me notice a lot of hidden details, and the more trivia I started learning, the more I became fascinated with the park.
