Welcome to Ask The Duchess Vol. 29, a monthly Q&A post covering a variety of resort-related topics. Ask The Duchess answers questions submitted by readers. If you have a question you’d like answered, send me a message here!
1. How can I drive the cars on Main Street? (submitted by Chad)
You can’t drive them, but you can ride as a passenger. Most have marked pickup and drop off locations. If you aren’t sure where a vehicle stops, ask a cast member on Main Street and they’ll point you in the right direction.
2. My father is hard of hearing. Do the shows at Disneyland have any kind of close up reserved seating for the hearing impaired? (submitted by Gabrielle)
Disneyland offers a hearing device through Guest Services that amplifies show audio. If you’d also prefer closer seating, ask a cast member at the theater at least an hour before show time; there are no guarantees, but they may be able to help.
3. Why is Disneyland’s castle so much smaller than Disney World’s? (submitted by Anonymous)
When Disneyland first opened, the park was much smaller. There were fewer lands, no roller coasters, and no mountains. The castle had nothing to dwarf it. Disney World anticipated growth, and construction began after coasters entered Disneyland. They needed to make the castle bigger to match the larger scale of the new Magic Kingdom.
4. Does Disneyland have a Tables in Wonderland like Disney World? (submitted by Janice)
Not that I’ve ever heard of. Disneyland has far fewer table service restaurants than Disney World, which may be why there’s no west coast equivalent.
5. Don’t you get sick of thinking about Disneyland every day? (submitted by Paula)
Absolutely! So I don’t think about it every day. Some weeks I write a lot and look through a lot of Disney social media, and other weeks I take a break from it and queue posts. Disneyland is something I enjoy, but it’s not my sole interest and life’s purpose.
I love Disneyland too. it would be nice to meet you and your friends at a Disneyland (somewhere in the world) I know we would have lots and lots of fun and we wont have to say, single rider anymore lol!!! HAVE FUN
