Main Street USA is Disneyland’s charming turn-of-the-century town. Though the road may be busy with its fleet of vehicles, Main Street also pays tribute to earlier American transportation: horses.

Hitching Posts

On Main Street and in New Orleans Square, you’ll notice pillars with giant rings. These are the Hitching Posts, places for guests of yesteryear to tie up their horses.

Mary Poppins set director Emile Kuri designed the Main Street Hitching Posts. You won’t see any horses tied up anytime soon, though. Instead, the posts are symbolic, serving as a reminder of early American life and transportation. Main Street USA’s blend of 19th and 20th century life means a mix of horse-drawn and self-powering vehicles!
