Welcome to Ask The Duchess Vol. 32, a monthly Q&A post covering a variety of resort-related topics. Ask The Duchess answers questions submitted by readers. If you have a question you’d like answered, send me a message here!
1. Where can I get a caricature done? (submitted by Angelina)
In Disneyland, try New Orleans Square. And the spot in California Adventure used to be Paradise Pier, but the artists may have moved to Paradise Park or Pixar Pier; I’m not entirely sure. I’d ask a cast member in one of those two spots during your visit.
2. Can I get a Mickey beignet in both parks? (submitted by Carlos)
Not in California Adventure. But you can get them in Disneyland (Mint Julep Bar) and Downtown Disney (Jazz Kitchen Express).
3. Would you recommend I fly into Burbank instead of LAX for my trip? (submitted by Audrey)
If you can, I’d HIGHLY recommend John Wayne as your airport to fly into. The airport is only 15-20 minutes away from the park, and you don’t have to drive through Los Angeles traffic.
4. I’m planning a trip on the 4th of July. Since it’s a holiday, I’ve been told the park will be much less crowded. Is that true? (submitted by Michael)
So sorry, but you got really bad advice. The 4th of July is one of the busiest days of the entire year at the Disneyland Resort (Summer crowds + holiday crowds). That doesn’t mean your trip will be a bust! Just go in with a lot of patience and a plan to use as many fast passes as possible.
5. What’s the crappiest Disney snack? (submitted by Leo)
I don’t necessarily think of any snacks as “crappy”, because different people like different things. But I really don’t like Dole Whip, so that’s probably a snack I’d never put on my list.
