Atwater Ink & Paint

June 2012 – present

LOCATION

Buena Vista Street – Atwater Ink & Paint sits on the southern end of Buena Vista Street’s main corridor, next to Trolley Treats. To find the shop as you enter the park, keep to the right. You’ll see the doorway after you pass beneath the Monorail bridge, just beyond Julius Katz & Sons.

EXPERIENCE

Details:

  • Merchandise – mugs, glassware, phone cases, & miscellaneous smaller merchandise
  • Price Range – most items are under $50, with many smaller items under $20
  • Unique FeaturesAtwater Ink & Paint Bulletin Board, ink pots above the registers

As you peruse the shops on Buena Vista Street, you’ll more often than not suddenly realize you’re technically in a different store. The shops on this street blend together much more seamlessly than on Main Street (at least for me!), and Atwater Ink & Paint is one of those shops that seamlessly blends right in. This little space mostly sells ceramic and glass souvenirs, many with the year printed on them. It’s a great place to wander if you’re in the mood for a mug – given the size of the space, they have a decent selection.

SHOPPING TIPS

This shop is usually not too crowded, and Buena Vista Street doesn’t have the congestion Main Street experiences with parades and fireworks – so there’s no “bad” time to visit. My only recommendation would be to visit this shop if you’re on the way out for the evening or heading back to your hotel, as some of the goods in this shop are delicate to carry around or come in bulky boxes that are hard to carry onto some rides.

TRIVIA

The name of this shop comes from LA’s Atwater Village district, a popular hangout for animators in the early years of Walt Disney Animation.
