Welcome to Ask The Duchess – Vol. 84, a monthly Q&A post covering a variety of resort-related topics. Ask The Duchess answers questions submitted by readers. If you have a question you’d like answered, send me a message here.
1. What’s your opinion of people filming during rides? (submitted by Kyle)
If it’s not bothering anyone else, who cares? But if you’re one of those people taking flash photos or filming a video with a spotlight, you’re selfish and inconsiderate of riders around you…and your flash pictures are going to come out terribly anyway.
2. Does Disneyland still do pressed penny machines? (submitted by Michelle)
Yep! You can see the official map of the coin pressing machines here.
3. When you’re in the park, is it a terrible idea to try and exit during a fireworks show? (submitted by Claire)
I would avoid it at all costs. Main Street during the fireworks is pure chaos. When I do have to exit at that time to make a reservation or something, my group doesn’t even try to stay together snaking through the crowds. We just say “see you at the exit” and hope for the best, haha.
4. Are the hotel bars worth going to if you’re not a guest? (submitted by Nicola)
For me, Trader Sam’s is always worth a visit. Once in a while, I like the Hearthstone Lounge too.
5. What’s the name of the restaurant inside of the castle? (submitted by Kayleigh)
The Magic Kingdom in Orlando, FL is the US park with a castle restaurant. In Disneyland, the castle is much smaller – and is home to the Sleeping Beauty Castle Walkthrough instead.
