Over the years, I’ve developed a terrible obsession with pins (combined with my ear collection, I’m starting to feel like a Disney hoarder!). I try to just stick to my absolute favorite characters and attractions, but it’s so hard not to keep grabbing new ones. My mom made me a beautiful felt Minnie board, but I’m rapidly running out of room.
As my collection grows, I’ve been trying to figure out new ways to store and/or display my pins. Here are a few solutions I’m going to try – they might work for your collection too!
Hanging Displays
The easiest way to show off your pins is with a hanging display. The felt or cork board options are great for sticking on pins, even if you’re like me and frequently have the urge to rearrange them.
Display Cases
For pins you want to show off in sets, or for your limited edition collections, consider a display case! These can be hung on the wall, stored on a shelf, or perhaps displayed on your coffee table for all to see.
Additional Solutions
Thinking about how to store your pins is a great way to get creative. Maybe you don’t want to hang them up, because you wear them. In that case, try a grid jewelry box. If you want a portable solution so you can bring them for trading in the parks, try a book. Or if you want to mix and match your groupings, give a separated bulletin board a try. Let your imagination run wild!

My preferred method of displaying pins in general is lanyards. It’s easy to keep and find certain groups together that way (for example, I have one for Christmas pins and one for Halloween pins), especially if I want to go for a certain theme in my outfit.
Also instead of trying to decide which one to wear (or resort to pinning all of them onto my shirt or jacket at once) I can just slip the lanyard over my head.
Best of all, my pins used to fall off my shirt or backpack after I put them on (fortunately the only one I actually lost was one of those cheap button pins). Now with all of them on my lanyard it’ll be easier to tell when one falls off, if they ever do again.
Although your board ideas are good if you want to get really creative and do a sort of ‘scene’ with the pins, such as pretending that certain pins are parade floats. I may do that in the future after I get more pins. ๐
