LOCATION

Main Street USA – Wonderland Music stood on the southern end of Main Street, and was the first storefront on the eastern side of the walkway. Today, this space houses the Main Street Magic Shop.

EXPERIENCE

Details:

  • Merchandise – Disney movie soundtrack records, sheet music
  • Unique Features – Window display with original Disney vinyl records

If you wandered the park and couldn’t get a Disney song out of your head, odds are you could find the record at Wonderland Music. Disney took full advantage of its earworms, giving guests the chance to bring Disney label music home with them after a day of hearing the songs in different shows and attractions. For aspiring musicians, the shop also sold sheet music, so they could learn to play the melodies themselves.

CLOSURE

This shop went out with a whimper, not a bang. First, it moved off the busier part of the street, and into a smaller location within the town square. Over time, the shop saw fewer visitors as bigger, more exciting shops populated the street. Eventually, the retail space was absorbed by the Mad Hatter next door.

TRIVIA

Wonderland Music moved during its run on Main Street. It started in the space pictured above, before moving into the town square in the room used for Jimmy Starr’s Show Business Souvenirs.

Some guide books referred to this shop as “Main Street Music”.
