Hollywood Land – The Disney Junior Dance Party is hard to miss; its neon marquee is the largest in Hollywood Land. To find the theater, keep to the right side of the street. You’ll see the marquee about 1/3 of the way down, just before the Disney Animation building.

BACKGROUND

Before the Dance Party arrived in Hollywood Land, visitors enjoyed puppet versions of their favorite characters in Disney Junior – Live on Stage! The show closed in the spring of 2017 after reported disputes between Disney and cast members around puppeteer contracts. Disney itself cited the show’s age and wanting to revamp the theater space to keep audiences engaged. In either case, the Dance Party opened in 2017, becoming the park’s largest theater spaced geared specifically toward little ones.

The Disney Junior Dance Party offers exactly what you think – a dance celebration for little ones, hosted by Disney Junior characters. Join Sofia the First, Doc McStuffins, and Timon’s friends from The Lion Guard as they play some of their favorite songs. Mickey and Minnie are on their way to the show – but will they make it before the party ends? You’ll just have to wait and see.

MY RATING: ★★☆☆☆

If your little ones like Disney Junior and/or dancing, they’ll LOVE this show. The theater doesn’t have normal seats; it’s an open space for kids to dance around. But if your kids don’t care about the characters, aren’t big dancers…or if you don’t have any little ones in your group, there’s not much else to the show. Minus the mystery of “will Mickey and Minnie arrive on time?!” the show has no storyline or theme. But the show is a good place to get off your feet and let the smallest members of your family dance out their Disneyland excitement.

VISITING TIPS

The Disney Junior Dance Party runs nearly every hour throughout the day. I’d recommend lining up for the show 30 minutes before the next showtime if the park is busy, or about 15-20 minutes before on quieter days. If you’re unsure of the next showtime or have questions about the performances, ask a cast member at the theater and they’ll be glad to help.

During the Halloween season, the Dance Party theater hosts Vampirina, another Disney Junior favorite, for meet and greets.
