June 2018 – present

LOCATION

Pixar Pier – The Incredicoaster is the first attraction visitors encounter if they walk through Pixar Pier’s main entrance, on the bridge. To find the attraction, follow the path that passes Lamplight Lounge. As the walkway turns right into the boardwalk, you’ll see the entrance on your left, through the archway.

BACKGROUND

Any boardwalk needs an old-fashioned roller coaster. When California Adventure opened in 2001, its coaster California Screamin’ dominated Paradise Pier. This coaster quickly became a fan favorite, offering the only inversion anywhere in the Disneyland Resort. Disneyland announced the addition of Pixar Pier in 2017, scaring fans as to Screamin’s fate. But the coaster survived, taking on an added layer of storytelling as an Incredibles attraction. The Incredicoaster opened in Pixar Pier in June 2018, with a new loading area, plot, and color scheme.

But tricky Jack Jack slips out of the house, and now the whole family has to chase him down. Follow Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, Violet, and Dash as they race through Pixar Pier, trying to catch their little brother. But watch out – this family of supers will definitely use their powers as you go!

MY RATING: ★★★★☆

The track, music, loading area, and views from the Incredicoaster make this a spectacular ride. From start to finish, you’ll love the smooth turns and huge drops this track offers, and the mid-century modern styling adds some great scenery to the loading area. I dock one star for the characters within the tubes; they look awful. The Incredibles don’t move, and look like giant pieces of plastic haphazardly stuck into the ride. But other than that lame effect, the Incredicoaster is incredible in its own right!.

TRIVIA

The Incredicoaster is the third-longest steel roller coaster in the western hemisphere. The track measures 6,072 feet long!

The red tubing helps tell the story of the coaster, but it also serves a practical purpose. The park bumps up against a residential zone with strict noise restrictions, so the tubes block screams from leaving the park.

Like in the film, the Incredicoaster’s look draws inspiration from mid-century modern architecture.
