Julius Katz & Sons

June 2012 – present

LOCATION

Buena Vista Street – Julius Katz & Sons marks the halfway point of the street. Visitors coming from the park gates will find the shop on the right side, just before Trolley Treats.

EXPERIENCE

Details:

  • Merchandise – Pins and home decor
  • Price Range – Cheaper pins under $10, with pricier home figurines over $100
  • Unique Features – Antique radios & homewares on the shelf above the shop

Julius Katz & Sons has a sneaky marketing strategy. The shop opens up at the back of Trolley Treats, one of the best smelling stores at the resort. When guests flock in for candies, they often find themselves wandering into the store, without even realizing they’ve started shopping. If you’re looking for home décor, pins, figurines, photo frames, or kitchenware, Julius Katz & Sons is a great place to start. This small shop has a sizeable selection, and is a great place to get ideas, if not purchase a souvenir.

SHOPPING TIPS

I like visiting this shop at night, as I work my way out of the park. In the evening, crowds tend to lighten up in the Buena Vista Street shops. Bonus – I don’t have to carry around any big souvenirs for the rest of the day, or rent a locker!

TRIVIA

Julius Katz plays on Julius the cat, Alice’s sidekick in Disney’s “Alice in Cartoonland” shorts from the 1920s.

Did you know this shop has a fictional backstory? Julius Katz owned a watch and radio repair shop on the street. Wanting to expand his family business to include his sons, he opened “Julius Katz & Sons” next door to the original shop. (Thus the radios displayed in the shop).

    • Hi Rick! I’m not 100% sure. If you can’t make it back into the parks, I’d try giving customer service a call. Here’s the number for Disneyland Resort guest information: (714) 781-INFO. Good luck getting your ornament fixed!
