Out of all the lands in Disneyland, Fantasyland might just have the most charm and detail. Every pillar, lamp, and windowsill plays a role, building the magical fairytale village that houses so many of Disney’s iconic characters. One of those characters, Princess Aurora, anchors the land with her magnificent castle. But she also has a tribute from her life as a commoner: Briar Rose’s birthday cake.
In the base of the castle lies the Enchanted Chamber, a shop celebrating Aurora’s secret life as Briar Rose. The beautifully decorated shop has a huge diorama depicting her life in the woods, before she knew she was a princess.
Next time you’re in the Chamber, take a look at the wall across from the register. You’ll see a wilting birthday cake supported by a broom.
Why, it’s Briar Rose’s birthday cake! You may remember the classic scene from Sleeping Beauty. Poor Fauna tries to bake a cake without using magic.
Briar Rose’s birthday party definitely didn’t go as planned. Somehow, the uneaten cake magically made its way into Sleeping Beauty castle. Maybe someday she and the fairies can finally celebrate her birthday together. Until then, it’s waiting for her in the Enchanted Chamber.
Note: If you visit the resort and can’t find the birthday cake, don’t panic! It temporarily disappears to make room for merchandise every so often (the shop changes all the time). It’ll most likely be back upon your next visit.
My favorite childhood movie. I used to dream of having this cake. Thank you, thank you for helping me find this! It wasn’t there on my last trip, so I waited a few weeks and BOOM it was back!!!
I’m so happy you got to see it! Sleeping Beauty is one of my favorites too, so I share your enthusiasm for this hidden gem 🙂
This is one of my favorite new details they have added recently!
xoxo
