Right in the entryway, you’ll see her. Meet Esmeralda, Main Street USA’s fortune teller. Drop in a quarter, and she’ll tell you what’s in store.
Esmeralda doesn’t speak; she lets her fortune cards speak for her. Her eerie background music and old-fashioned booth transport you into a carnival of yesteryear.
Many a guest has sought answers from Esmeralda, and who knows…a few predictions surely have come true.
One thing I recently began to notice on Esmeralda’s cards is that all of the “Magic Numbers” pertain to Disney history! I’ve received three different ones over my visits since I started to collect them, which are 12, 05, 01, which is Walt’s birthday, 07, 17, 55, which is the day Disneyland opened, and 06, 14, 59, which is when a plethora of new attractions were introduced, including the Monorail, Matterhorn, and Submarine Voyage, plus the introduction of the E-ticket.
