One of the unfortunate pieces of Tomorrowland is the empty PeopleMover track. It looms above the land, unused, and most guests don’t pay much attention to it. But if you do stop to look up at the Tomorrowland skies, you may notice a complicated structure on top of the PeopleMover’s former loading dock.

Meet the Observatron, a mysterious piece of technology that once entertained Disneyland visitors. For many years, the Observatron would come to life every fifteen minutes. The structure spun, its radar devices flaring out, and guests heard a rotation of four miniature scores:

  • Disneyland Paris’ Space Mountain theme
  • Iron Will
  • The Rocketeer
  • Le Visionarium

Since the late 2000s, the structure has gone quiet. At the moment, it would seem there’s no need to contact distant planets. But keep a close eye on the Observatron as you explore Tomorrowland; you never know if and when this mysterious device will come back to life.
