Visitors to Galaxy’s Edge are very familiar with the busy energy of the land – from humming ships docked to passing droids to jedis in training heading to Savi’s workshop. One of the busiest buildings is the central watering hole: Oga’s Cantina. But have you ever noticed that the building shows signs that Batuu wasn’t always such a peaceful planet?

All around the building, you’ll see blaster marks deeply etched into the walls. And if you pick up The Traveler’s Guide to Batuu, you’ll learn about their dramatic back story.
According to the guide, Darth Vader’s forces descended upon the Cantina about 40 years ago, resulting in erupting gunfire that nearly destroyed the building. It was left abandoned for nearly 20 years, before villagers decided to rebuild. Even with a remodel, the building still keeps a few scars from that dramatic day.
Here’s a little more color from the book:
“Take the blaster marks on the wall, for example. Locals say those ended up there before Oga took over, scorched into the permacrete when a blue-skinned Imperial officer named Grand Admiral Thrawn got into a blaster fight with a group of off-worlders known as the Darshi. These little reminders are proof that the cantina was a rough place long before Oga got here,” according to the book. “The staff under Oga’s employ are no strangers to dealing with sketchy clientele and the trouble they bring with them.”
