I’ve talked about my love of so called “hidden gems” from the onset of this blog. For me, the best part of Disneyland is the attention to detail. The tinier the hidden gem, the better. It shows the care and thought Imagineers put into each piece of the park. Today, I’m sharing one of my favorite (and one of the most thoroughly hidden) gems in Disneyland.

Let’s head over to Snow White’s Grotto. Beyond the wishing well, you’ll see a small staircase. Sometimes this is roped off (please don’t jump the rope!), but most of the time it’s open for guests to visit. On the right of the staircase, you’ll see a skinny tree.

Look closely at the tree, and you’ll see a carving: PP + WD. These are the initials of Peter Pan and Wendy Darling, carved on one of their adventures through Fantasyland. I like to think they made a wish at the well to never grow up, and left their initials on the tree before flying off to Neverland.

Peter & Wendy Tree

To me, the Peter & Wendy Tree is the quintessential hidden gem. 99.99% of park visitors will never know this carving exists, but it’s there anyway, adding to the story of the park. And that’s why it’s one of my favorites!
