Welcome to June! It’s getting warmer, the park is getting busier, and to be honest…there weren’t a ton of news updates this month (thankfully the chemical explosion DIDN’T happen in Orange County…yikes). So here’s a slightly shorter than usual look back at the Disneyland Resort last month.
DISNEYLAND CELEBRATES THE 250TH A BIT EARLY
Last week, Disneyland hosted more than 100 sailors, marines, and coast guardsmen as part of a dual celebration: Los Angeles Fleet Week and the ongoing Disney Celebrates America lineup ahead of the United States’ 250th anniversary.

The troops marched down Main Street with the largest US Navy band to ever perform at Disneyland, and then held a flag retreat ceremony in Town Square. The event concluded with a flyover by the F/A-18E Super Hornets.

EDELWEISS LODGE OPENS
Over in Fantasyland, Disneyland added some much needed seating and shade to the northeastern side of the park, near the Matterhorn. This area, formerly home to the Motor Boat Cruise, has officially been named Edelweiss Lodge.

OTHER UPDATES
Disney and AccuWeather announced a new partnership this month for Disney Weather Check, a new app providing customized weather reports for Disney properties around the US. (It sounded like this will be a separate app from the announcement, but maybe it will be a feature within the Disneyland App too?). It will include hourly forecasts, hyperlocal precipitation radar, “real feel” temperature readings, and UV index information. You can read the official announcement here.
And finally, Trader Sam’s has announced a special 15th anniversary drink menu. You can check out the full lineup here.

This makes me feel old(er) as I still have bicentennial themed souvenirs from my visit to the park in 1976.
