San Fransokyo Maker's Market

August 2023 – present

LOCATION

San Fransokyo Square – The Maker’s Market is tucked into the southernmost corner of the square. To find it, cross the bridge and keep to your right, continuing past the Cerveceria and Cocina Cucamonga. You’ll see it at the end of the walkway, just before the Baymax meet and greet area.

EXPERIENCE

Details:

  • Merchandise – Big Hero 6 accessories, toys, and some clothing
  • Price Range – Most items range from $30 to $80
  • Unique Features – “decommissioned” bots from the Big Hero 6 movie and animated series on top of their storage cases, which now hold merchandise

The San Fransokyo Maker’s Mart is an open-air shop selling a variety of goods to passing travelers. Formerly a salvage yard, the Mart serves as the Square’s busiest marketplace, with many details hidden throughout.

SHOPPING TIPS

Since this shop is open air, it’s really easy to nagivate and traffic flows pretty freely. My pro tip is that this shop also sells Spider-Bots (connecting it to the Marvel universe), so if the Avengers Campus stores are jammed, swing by here to get a bot without dealing with the crowds.

TRIVIA

According to Disney lore, the “Makers” of the Mart are “tech-minded individuals who operate at a grassroots level, coming together to repair, modify, improve, and reinvent technology. Many are students or alumni of the local university, the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology.”

In the shop, you’ll see banners for San Fransokyo’s three teams: the San Fransokyo Ninjas (baseball), the Golden State Samurai (basketball), and the Nurasaki Emperors (football).

The bots in the shop all have names! You might recognize them if you’re a fan of the Big Hero 6 universe: Little Yama, Snips, Cerberus, Worm Bot, and Megabot (he hides up in the rafters).
